GARDEN BIRDING 01-07/03/26

Spring is truly coming. In the garden, the bushes are turning green, the blossom trees are shades of pink and lemon-white, and the large trees that normally hold Linnets and Goldfinches are budding. I've done quite a bit of birding in the garden this week, but have not ended up really taking many photos, so apologies for the lack of pictures:)

Sunday

Sunday was one of the better days of the week, with all the usuals showing up, along with the male and female Bullfinch. The large flock of Linnets put in a performance as well... always great to see. A few Collared Doves were around, and the Greenfinches were calling again. Two Red Kites and a Buzzard were circling as well. A Great Black-backed Gull that flew by was the star of the day, a garden tick that was expected at some point, but great to get all the same.

Monday

Monday was relatively quiet, with notable birds being a Herring Gull, a Jay that flew past the window, and a Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming.

Tuesday

Tuesday held all the usuals, along with the Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming again, and the Bullfinches heard briefly mid afternoon.

Wednesday

Wednesday was quite quiet, with a few Great Tits around, along with some Long-tailed Tits, Collared Doves and Linnets.

Thursday

Thursday offered some brief views of a Common Buzzard, Red Kite, and the male Bullfinch, but not much else was about.

Friday

A Blackcap put in a very short appearance on Friday morning- only the 3rd I've seen here. Other than that, quite a few Herring Gulls flew around, some Great Tits were about, and the Great Spotted Woodpecker was present again.

Unfortunaetely, I didn't manage anything on Saturday, so the week ends here. A decent week, I'm gonna try and get some pictures this week... makes these posts much more interesting!
